About ISS (Indian Statistical Services)

The Indian Statistical Service is the administrative inter-ministerial civil service under Group A of the Central Civil Services of the executive branch of the Government of India. It is a national-level exam conducted by UPSC for statistical services. The full form of ISS is Indian Statistical Services.

ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS

1. Nationality Nationality A candidate must be either :— (a) a citizen of India; or (b) a subject of Nepal; or (c) a subject of Bhutan; or (d) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before the 1st January, 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India; or (e) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia or Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India : Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (b), (c), (d) & (e) above shall be person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India. A candidate in whose case a certificate of eligibility is necessary may be admitted to the examination but the offer of appointment may be given only after the necessary eligibility certificate has been issued to him/her by the Government of India.

2. Age Limits : (a) A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years on 1st August, 2021 i.e he/she must have been born not earlier than 2nd August, 1991 and not later than 1st August, 2000.
(b). The upper age-limit prescribed above will be relaxable as follows :—
(i). up to a maximum of five years if a candidate belong to a Scheduled Caste or a Scheduled Tribe;
(ii). up to a maximum of three years in the case of candidate belonging to Other Backward Classes who are eligible to avail of reservation applicable to such candidates;
(iii). up to a maximum of three years in the case of Defence Services Personnel disabled in operations during hostilities with any foreign country or in a disturbed area, and released as a consequence thereof ;
(iv). up to a maximum of five years in the case of ex-servicemen including Commissioned Officers and ECOs/SSCOs who have rendered at least five years Military Service as on 1st August, 2021 and have been released : (i) on completion of assignment (including those whose assignment is due to be completed within one year from 1st August, 2021 otherwise than by way of dismissal or discharge on account or misconduct or inefficiency; or (ii) on account of Physical disability attributable to Military Service; or (iii) on invalidment;
(v). up to a maximum of five years in the case of ECOs/SSCOs who have completed an initial period of assignment of five years of Military Service as on 1st August, 2021 and whose assignment has been extended beyond five years and in whose case the Ministry of Defence issues a certificate that they can apply for Civil employment and that they will be released on three months’ notice on selection from the date of receipt of offer of appointment;
(vi). up to a maximum of 10 years in the case of Persons with Benchmark Disabilities viz; (a) blindness and low vision; (b) deaf and hard of hearing; (c) locomotor disability including cerebral palsy, leprosy cured, dwarfism, acid attack victims and muscular dystrophy; (d) autism, intellectual disability, specific learning disability and mental illness; (e) multiple disabilities from amongst person under clauses (a) to (d) including deaf blindness.

About RBI (DSIM)

ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS

1. Nationality a citizen of India, or
a subject of Nepal or Bhutan, or
a Tibetan refugee who is permanently settled in India prior to January 1, 1962, or
a person of Indian origin who has migrated from either Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, or Vietnam with the intention of residing permanently in India.

2. Qualification A Master's Degree in Statistics/ Mathematical Economics/ Mathematical Statistics/ Econometrics/ Applied Statistics & Informatics from IIT-Bombay / Statistics & Informatics from IIT-Kharagpur with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters / years;
OR
Master's Degree in Mathematics with a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters / years and one year post graduate diploma in Statistics or related subjects from an Institute of repute; OR
M. Stat. Degree of Indian Statistical Institute with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate of all semesters / years; OR
Post Graduate Diploma in Business Analytics (PGDBA) jointly offered by ISI Kolkata, IIT Kharagpur and IIM Calcutta with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters/years.

RBI Grade B DSIM recruitment will take place in three stages-

  • Phase I- Paper 1- Objective type questions on Statistics
  • Phase II - Paper 2 and 3 - Descriptive type
  • Interview

RBI Grade B DSIM final merit will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained by you in an Online exam i.e Paper 1 +Paper 2 +Paper 3 and interview. RBI Grade B DSIM - Paper 1 schedule not announced for year 2022.
RBI Grade B DSIM Paper 1 or Phase I is an objective type online exam where questions will be based on Statistics. A composite time of 120 minutes are given for answering RBI Grade B DSIM Paper I. The maximum marks are 100. If you clear Paper 1, you will be called for Phase 2 - Paper 2 and Paper 3. Further information can be deduced from the table below:

RBI Grade B DSIM Paper 2 and Paper 3 examination will be in shifts. You are required to appear for all shifts. RBI Grade B DSIM Paper 2 is of descriptive type (on Statistics). Here questions are displayed on the computer and you need to write answers on paper. It comprises 100 marks with a composite time of 180 minutes. Paper 3 will be of an English descriptive paper to be typed with help of a keyboard. Further information can be deduced from the table below:

RBI Grade B DSIM final stage is an interview. Interview will be of 75 marks and you can opt for an interview either in Hindi or English.
